The SERVANTEE Story...
In 2015, I was leading my third mission trip team to El Salvador. We traveled down to serve and support our partner, Love & Hope Children's Home, plus we raised the funds and helped build an addition on a home for a family in need in their local community.
After the week of serving, we'd rented a beach house to enjoy a few relaxing days together and have some intentional conversations reflecting upon our personal experiences from the trip. As we headed to the airport for our flight back home, we passed a new golf course that was under construction and immediately this thought came to my mind,
"What if I could organize some trips for golfers where we'd get to SERVE others in need AND then TEE it up at great local golf courses? And throughout the trip, we'd have intentional conversations on how to best use our gifts and talents to live a life purpose - in golf speak - how to live a life well played!
BOOM! It was like an instant collision of gifts, talents, passion and calling all in one! The idea for SERVANTEE - Purpose Driven Golf was born right then and there but I knew that there was much more to learn about starting a nonprofit, organizing events and mission trips. I also had a desire and a need to grow into being a better leader - of myself and others.
A few years and mission trips later, it felt a nudge from God that is was time to get the ball rolling. SERVANTEE received its 501c3 Non-Profit status in 2018 and since then, we've organized Purpose Driven Golf Events and Trips that have helped several organizations and their missions. In 2019, I was honored with the Georgia PGA's 'Bill Strausbaugh Award' for outstanding involvement in charity and community activities - a testament to the SERVANTEE mission.
Fast forward to 2022, by God's grace, I've had the privilege of organizing and leading nine mission trips - seven to El Salvador and two to Guatemala. Forty different people have gone on these trips and we've made a significant impact in the lives of the children and families we've served.
Twelve years prior, I never would have dreamed of doing such things, but through the years and experiences, I have grown into a deep appreciation for the unique gifts and talents that God has planted in me and how I can best use these to serve others. In addition, I've become somebody who desires to lead a life well played and I firmly believe SERVANTEE can make a significant impact in the lives other golfers by helping them do the same... all while serving others in need and enjoying this great game of golf!
